White-Spotted Hermit Crab
The White-spotted Hermit Crab is a large, carnivorous hermit crab. It has hairy red legs covered with white spots with black rims. This crab is a scavenger and will prey on smaller invertebrates and fish. It can be found living in reefs in the Indian and Pacific Oceans from Africa to the South China Sea and Hawaii. This large hermit crab species can grow to a maximum length of 8 inches (20 centimeters). Like all hermit crabs, it has a soft body that must be protected by scavenging shells from other animals.
