Opalescent Sea Slug
Hermissenda crassicornis, also known as the Opalescent Sea Slug, is found in a variety of habitats including mud flats, rocky shores and wharf pilings. Also known as a nudibranch, it grows to a length of up to 3 inches (8 centimeters). Its dorsal surface has a single orange stripe and bright "electric blue lines, but otherwise its color can vary. This nudibranch species can be found in the coastal waters of North America from Kodiak, Alaska to Baja California.
