This brittle starfish is different from most commonly known starfish because it has long, thin arms than enable it move quickly. Most brittle stars have five arms that radiate from a central disk. The mouth of the starfish is located underneath this central disk. Brittle stars are scavengers. On the reef, they feed mainly on decaying matter and plankton. They are quite common and can be found on most of the world's coral reefs.
