Dione Above Saturn
NASA's Cassini spacecraft captured this image of Saturn's moon Dione orbiting above the giant planet. The gold and blue hues of Saturn's atmosphere can be seen in the background behind the small moon. The black stripes on the planet are shadows of the rings. Dione is an icy world similar in composition to Saturn's moon Rhea, although it contains a much larger amount of rocky material because it is denser. Rhea also shows some of the same wispy surface features as is sister moon. The exact nature of these wispy markings is still not known.
