Valles Marineris
This is a close-up image of the Valles Marineris canyon on Mars. Known also as the Grand Canyon of Mars, Valles Marineris is the largest canyon in the Solar System. It runs an amazing 2,490 miles (4,000 km) in length and is five times deeper then the Grand Canyon on Earth. This canyon is so long it would stretch across the United States from New York to California. It runs along the equator of Mars and covers about one fifth the circumference of the planet.
