Safety in Tentacles
This pink skunk clownfish (Amphiprion perideraion) has found protection inside the stinging tentacles of a large sea anemone. Known also as a pink anemonefish, it is one of a number of fish species that has developed an immunity to the poisonous sting of some species of anemones. The pink skunk is found from Tonga and the Great Barrier Reef in the western Pacific Ocean and the Cocos and Christmas Islands in the eastern Indian Ocean. It inhabits reef lagoons and outer reef slopes, and lives amongst sea anemones for protection.
