Spiny Sea Star
The spiny sea star (Gomophia egeriae) is a species of starfish native to the Indian and Pacific oceans. This image was captured by underwater photographer Nick Hobgood in the waters of Komodo National Park in Indonesia. This species is characterized by the hard, nodules that cover its upper surface. Its color ranges from orange to various shades of red. It is usually found with five arms and feeds on algae and detritus.
