Indian Sea Star
The Indian sea star (Fromia indica) is a species of starfish native to the Indian Ocean and Western Pacific Ocean It can be found from the Andaman islands as far west as Sri Lanka and as far east as the Fiji Islands. It is bright red with black tips when young, but the color becomes a slightly duller red as it matures. This species normally has five arms, but has been found with six. The Indian sea star can reach a maximum size of 3 inches (10 centimeters) in diameter. Its feeds on detritus, microalgae, and small invertebrates.
