Panamic Cushion Star
The Panamic cushion star (Pentaceraster cumingi) is a starfish species that is found in Mexico along the Pacific side of Baja California, the Sea of Cortez, and the coast of the Mexican mainland south to Guatemala. Also known as a knobby star, it is one of the most common starfish species in the Sea of Cortez. This species is characterized thick, strong arms covered with bright red spines. Its overall body is gray in color. It reaches a maximum size of about 12 inches (30 centimeters) in diameter.
