Sharpnose Puffer
The Caribbean sharpnose puffer (Canthigaster rostrata) is a tiny pufferfish with beautiful coloration. It is native to the western Central Atlantic Ocean from the coast of South Carolina to Venezuela, including Bermuda, the Gulf of Mexico. and the Caribbean Sea. Like all pufferfishes, it has the ability to inflate its body with water when threatened. This makes it suddenly appear larger which can surprise and confuse predators. This small species grows to a maximum size of about 5 inches (12 centimeters).
