Purple Coral
This beautiful coral species is only found in the waters off the west coast of North America from California to Baja California. It grows very slowly, taking as long as 25 years to grow 1.5 inches. This coral is protected in the waters off the coast of California. Corals like these are known as stony corals because of the hard, calcium skeleton that forms their inner structure.
