Welcome to the astronomy photo album. Here I will be posting photos submitted by amateur astronomers and by some of the visitors to this site. If you are interested in having your astronomy photos posted here, please send an e-mail with a photo in either JPG or GIF format. If you have photos that have not been scanned, just make me a copy of one and I can give you an address to send it to. I will scan it and post it online. I probably won't be able to return it, so send a copy not the original.

| This photo of comet Hale Bopp was taken by Joe Gerry in New England. The location is looking over the Merrimac River. Joe used a #10 envelope, and covered the portion of the field of view so that the comet could burn in for about 4 or 5 seconds. He then slowly let the rest of the view be exposed by dragging the envelope away. Great job Joe. Ingenuity is one of the best tools of the amateur astrophotographer! |
